MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

This is Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary where you will have the opportunity of spotting the Big Five (Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephants) It covers 1510 sq kms.268 kms west of Nairobi.

 

Being perhaps the richest naturally stocked reserve be sure to spot lots of Hippos at the Mara River Hippo pools and basking Crocs on the banks, lots of Zebras, Topi,Thompson gazelles and Elands (Elands are Africa’s largest antelopes and similar to the American Elk in body size. You should not miss out on these.

Flamingoes At Lake Nakuru

LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

It’s a very shallow strongly alkaline lake situated 140km Northwest of Nairobi and about 12 kms to the nearby LakeElementaita playing host to Pelicans, Black Winged Stilts, Avocets Comorants and during winter lots of Ruffs.

 

Lake Nakuru covers about 62km2 and is bounded by Menengai crater to the North, the Bahati hills to the North East, the lion hill ranges to the East,Eburu crater to the south and the Mau escarpment to the west, Be sure to spot lions, Buffalos, Leopards, and Black RhinosLake Nakuru National Park is situated in Central Kenya, Nakuru District of the Rift Valley province and covers an area of 188sq.km.

Aberdare Ranges

ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK

Aberdare National Park is located at the central highlands, west of Mount Kenya, Nyeri District in central province covering an area of 766km2.

 

The Aberdares are an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the Rift valley, running roughly 99km north south between Nairobi and Thomsons falls. It’s a place with red soil of volcanic origin rich in organic matter. The two main peaks are Ol Donyo Lesatima (3999m) and Kinangop (3906m) separated by a long saddle of Alpine moorland at over 3000m.The Aberdares are an important water catchment area feeding the Tana and Athi rivers and part of central Rift and Northern drainage basin

 

We sort accommodation at Saltlick which attracts a host of wildlife-Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards, Bushbuck and occasionally an elusive Bongo or giant forest hog and the following facilities depending with our clients taste. The Ark, Aberdare Country Club and Treetops Lodge.
